North Dakota travel nursing features unique scenic, natural, historical, cultural, and recreational opportunities. Located at the geographical center of North America, North Dakota is bordered on the north by the 49th parallel. North Dakota's state parks offer diverse experiences through many different habitats, making wildlife abundant. There are many rare species such as the bobcat, lynx, mountain lion, elk and the pygmy shrew. In addition, bison, antelope and bighorn sheep can be seen quite frequently. North Dakotans participate in a variety of winter sports including skating, sleighing, and tobogganing. Ski trails can be found throughout the state and many of the larger cities hold winter sports carnivals. People are attracted to annual summer pageants depicting historical events and to the numerous agricultural fairs in the state. Visitors find many exhibits throughout the state by Native American artists, both historical and contemporary. One's visit to North Dakota would be incomplete without seeing The International Peace Garden, at the US/Canada border. With it's colorful gardens, landscapes, and wilderness areas, each year more than a quarter million people from around the world visit.
